If your pipe is clean and unused, TSA often lets it pass as glassware. But if there’s any residue or ash, it can be flagged as drug paraphernalia under federal law.

Here’s where confusion kicks in. Glass pipes can be legally sold for tobacco use. That’s the intent most shops advertise. The problem is, TSA officers aren’t mind readers. If they see resin or ash, the assumption often leans toward cannabis use, which remains illegal under federal law.
